The Fourth Day
On the fourth day of the apparitions, Saturday, June 27, the local government authorities in Citluk became interested in the events in the parish of Medugorje, and summoned the six children for investigation. During this interrogation at the police station, the children remained firm in their contention that they had seen Our Lady. Then they were sent to be examined by the doctor on duty, Dr. Ante Vujevic. The children returned to hill, where crowds were waiting, when the time of the apparition was approaching.
The Fifth Day
It is estimated that more than 15,000 people had gathered outside Bijakovici that Sunday when the children arrived at the site of the visions a little after six in the evening. During the vision that day a local person, Grgo Kozina, was able to tape-record every word the children spoke to the crowd, as they asked questions of Our Lady and repeated her answers to the people.
On the second day of the apparitions, most of the visionaries were out in the fields collecting tobacco leaves. They finished their work a little earlier than usual, whereupon Ivanka, Mirjana, Vicka, and Ivan Dragidevic decided to return to the hill. Vicka describes the events of this day in an interview with Finabar O’Leary: “On this particular day Milka was not able to come, as she was doing some chores for her mother.
On the sixth day, Monday, the children were again summoned to Citluk by the authorities, and then sent to Mostar, to the neuro-psychiatric department of the Dr. Safet Mujic Hospital. It was expected that the six children would be declared mentally ill, or hallucinatory, etc.
On the seventh day, the children had been taken by social workers away from the site of the apparitions. Because of this, they were in Cerno at the time of the apparition, while thousands of people were waiting for them on the hillside in Bijakovici.
In an interview with Fr. Svetozar in February 1983, Ivanka, the first young person to see Our Lady, spoke about the extraordinary events that took place on June 24, 1981, the feast day of John the Baptist: “We were together in my house, Mirjana and myself, and we went for a walk. When we were returning home, for some reason I looked toward the hill and saw a bright figure. I said, ‘Mirjana, look, the Madonna!’ Mirjana waved her hand and said, ‘Come on, you think Our Lady would appear to us!’ And we continued on our way home. We came to Milka's house, (younger sister of visionary Marija Pavlovic-Lunetti), and she said, ‘Let us go to bring the sheep home.’ So we went there (near where the Community of Sr. Elvira is now located), talking along the way.
